question Heart and Blood Circulation in Xinyi

I have a question! Maybe I can get some answers too, huh?

In all seriousness, asking good questions can be difficult sometimes. It's good to have clarity in mind because too vague and too self-serving questions may hinder getting meaningful answers.

Today my practice began well and I can feel that the core (deep back and stomach muscles) has gotten stronger, but then during lifting stance I started to feel that my pulse got up higher and the heart beat harder, so I thought maybe it's time to cut a bit slack and not turn it into a cardio exercise.

It wasn't uncomfortable, just unexpected.

It might be that the extra nervous energy I have from my earlier insight and calmness sitting meditations has charged up the sympathetic nervous system response, hence the heart responds more eagerly. Or it could be ordinary Xinyi adjustment for all I know.

It made me wonder about this question: How does Xinyi relate to cardio training?

Standing IS cardio in Xin Yi...at least in the beginning because it's meant to identify your health deficiencies. Such deficiencies are when you have your heart rate boost a lot to show that your sedentary state is not relaxed and there is likely a lot of anxiety. Eventually, the heart rate can and will increase like you were doing a very light jog at most, but otherwise, it should be stable.

Now, having done insight meditation, then it's the anxiety coming out and Xin Yi teaches that all sorts of sensations arise, and this is just stuff you can let in and out as every moment should be treated like it's a split second in combat, which is what a stance is.

If you have good health like you bike everywhere or go for a jog, a hike, or do HIIT on occasion, then you may not even notice much heart rate differences when standing, as it is a snapshot of your overall health at the moment. When you sweat a lot, there's a lot of dampness, heat, and thus a need to detox, not to mention tension.

When you barely sweat or shake, then your Zhan Zhuang has become natural, especially if you no longer feel any difficulties or discomfort standing.

What is stirred up, emotionally and energetically, needs to pass through in as relaxed a manner as possible with minimal scrutiny. This helps to prevent imbalance.
Play, be happy, dig your hands and feet into the soil. When everything around you is looked through a sacred lens; you become more sacred. Advanced work is necessary to
fill our individual needs but, if done correctly, leads you back to the fundamentals with a new eye that reveals what truly matters.

Absolutely! This is how jin transfers because of deep emotional rooting and relaxation! With this standing practice, you develop the sensitivity to know if you are maintaining rooting, balance, and relaxation.
